William Byron Webster is an opera composer, scholar, and social activist. He is a staff member of Stanford University where he has been honored as a Community Treasure. His operas, The Little Match Girl and Cyrano de Bergerac have earned high praise from his admirers. A founder of FreedomArts, his Prelude to Intolerance: Meditations on the Life of Anne Frank and The Universal Declaration of Human Rights have been presented at anniversaries of the signing of the United Nations Charter and the founding of UNICEF. With BA, MA, and PhD degrees from Stanford, he has taught at three universities. The latter part of his life has been devoted to community service helping the underprivileged. The LMG Opera and his plans for it are one impossible dream come true, and another in the making.
